Job description
In the consideration of applications for the professorship, the main emphasis will be on the applicant's ability to document a high level of original scientific work at an international level within the area of Clinical Biochemistry.

The professor’s responsibilities will primarily consist of:

  • Research, including publication/academic dissemination - By combining information on biomarkers and genetic variants from large population cohorts with high-quality registry information on cardiovascular disease endpoints, the present research field will increase the understanding of common genetically determined hyperlipidemias. Thus, the research field may provide the scientific basis for improved cardiovascular disease risk stratification and future primary and secondary prevention for the benefit of individual patients and society at large, at a time where aging populations severely challenge the capacity of health care systems.
  • Research-based teaching, including associated examination - The professor will contribute to teaching within the Department of Clinical Medicine, including the course in diagnostic medicine and courses in internal medicine for medical students at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. The professor will also contribute to methodological PhD courses offered by the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, as well as to supervision of bachelor, graduate, PhD, and post.doc. students at the University of Copenhagen.
  • Research leadership, including guidance and supervision of bachelor and master students as well as PhD students - the professor will define specific hypotheses to be tested to increase the understanding of genetically determined hyperlipidemias, write grant applications to secure sufficient funding for the research field, and disseminate research results nationally and internationally at scientific congresses, in high-impact scientific journals, as well as through media aimed at the general public. The professor will aim to contribute to international research collaborations within the field of genetically determined hyperlipidemia and to contribute to expert opinion documents and consensus reports to promote implementation of research results in clinical practice.
Required qualifications

The six criteria (research, teaching, societal impact, organisational contribution, external funding and leadership) are considered a framework for the overall assessment of candidates.
